All the images below were done with Adobe Illustrator
Batman   The final project in Digital Publishing, level 3, was an annual report, which is the same as reading . . . I don't know insert boring reading material joke here. I swiped some graphics from the new X-Men series and Hush and made it comic book style. The Bat was the cover.
Honda CBR 600   The grace and beauty of a racer dropping into a turn was my final project in illustrator in level 2. I like this one most of all. The subject is Fabian Foret. It took about 20 hours to get it right. Not in a row, of course. I'm much faster now. The Kawasaki took about 8. The girl took about 12 and the bat took 3 hours.
Kawasaki ZX7R   This was one I worked on after class, see below for the exact reasons. Eric Bostrom is the subject from a photograph in Motorcycle Racer Magazine. The world's number one road race magazine. According to them. I got the Foret photo from this mag also.
Natissia Malthe   This was another after-class project. During the modules (trimesters) of level 2 I was still living in the fantasy world of not having to work and going to school during the day. Class ended at 5 but, usually I had to wait until after 7 or 8 pm to get on the road back to the good old OC. This, coupled with the fact that the instructor at night, Terry Warner, had a great reputation for both his work and knowledge of the industry (true and true) and caught my attention when, on the first night of class he jumped up on a table and started yelling about looking at things with a new perspective. I usually worked on this with one earphone off to hear his lectures.
The reference pictureI used is from Maxim, the model — Natassia Malthe
Octopussy   This was the first real drawing I did in Adobe Illustrator 10. We had to draw fish and while everyone was doing tropical fish or pretty fish or whatever. I immediately thought of the scene in 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea when Kirk Douglas and the crew of the Nautilus are hacking away with hatchets at the arms of the giant squid. Cinematic magic!
Riot Gear Logo   This is a logo I made for one of our "In House" brands at the place I work. Riot Gear is skate gear and hardware.
